The 8 Pillars of Health
You’re already doing a lot for your health—that’s a great foundation for staying fit and well into old age. However, incorporating one new healthy habit from these eight pillars could further enhance your well-being. Your body and mind will thank you for it!
01. Nutrition
Healthy nutrition means eating as naturally as possible—minimally processed foods, seasonal and regional ingredients, high nutrient density, gentle cooking methods, and minimal exposure to environmental toxins.
02. Exercise & Movement
“Sitting is the new smoking.” A sedentary lifestyle leads to numerous health issues in the long run. Regular physical activity not only keeps you in shape but also boosts your energy levels. To maintain consistency, choose a form of exercise that brings you joy.
03. Sleep
Adequate sleep helps maintain focus, productivity, emotional balance, and overall health. Cutting back on sleep to be “more efficient” is a myth. Aim for at least seven hours per night, whether you’re an early bird or a night owl. The key is getting enough rest.
04. Awareness
“Mind over matter.” As long as your perception is in conflict with reality, true well-being is difficult to achieve. Strive for harmony with yourself and your environment by deepening your understanding of life’s principles. The more self-awareness you develop, the clearer your mind and the more balanced your life will be.
05. Relationships
My definition of health is: “The quality of your relationships.” Research by Professor Dr. Spitzer shows that loneliness is the number one cause of death. While some people face more challenging circumstances than others, everyone can take steps to improve their relationships. Maintaining existing connections, making new acquaintances, or enhancing social skills is always possible. The key is stepping out of your comfort zone and making a conscious effort.
06. Self-Love
You are the person you spend the most time with—24 hours a day. How is your relationship with yourself? How do you relate to the world around you?
Observe your thoughts about yourself to understand your self-perception. Start treating yourself with kindness and compassion. Exploring your individual traits and constitution can help you develop a deeper sense of self-acceptance.
07. Energy Management
To maintain a consistently high energy level, you need a balance of energy-boosting habits and the elimination of energy-draining factors. Your personal energy level follows specific principles, and with a few small adjustments, you can significantly increase your vitality.
08. Detoxification
To protect yourself from the slow accumulation of toxins in the air, water, personal care products, and food, take a two-pronged approach.
First, avoid products containing heavy metals (e.g., certain deodorants, shampoos, face creams, tap water, and processed foods).
Second, support your body’s detoxification process through cleansing routines and detoxifying substances to counteract unavoidable exposure.
